I have been in the mental health field for many years and have experience working with a variety of different symptoms and conditions including:
My approach to counselling is to create a safe and warm space where you can be heard, trusted, and validated without judgment. I strongly believe that creating a compassionate and collaborate relationship where you will be listened to and honoured for your unique strengths and needs, is essential to how I approach each client. I use a trauma-informed approach and empirically proven therapeutic techniques such as Acceptance and Compassion Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindful Self- Compassion (MSC), and Polyvagal Theory to ground ourselves in our therapy sessions. I am drawn to these techniques because they allow for an honest and vulnerable exploration that does not pathologize or label people and gives you the ability to direct your life.
My hope is that during our sessions you will feel empowered to understand and to strengthen your relationship with yourself and connections with others. What I have come to know is that we are all imperfect, doing the best we know how to do at any given moment.
I am a wife and mother, love to be in nature, travel, and try to live a balanced lifestyle. Prior to moving into the mental health field, I spent many years in corporate positions. These experiences allow me to bring a compassionate perspective to my practice, relating to the challenges many face in today’s world.
I am in good standing with the CRPO and the OAMHP.
